Cheap Online Contact Lenses?
« on: January 19, 2016, 12:14:31 PM »
I have used 1-800 contacts before, and had good results, but notice that their price for Biofinity Toric lenses are $69.99 a box. My eye Dr. is $60 a box. Several places online have them for about $30, but at least one (Vision Direct) had really bad reviews, shorted orders, and claims of lenses being knock-offs instead of the brand name. Any advice/experience? Really tempted to stick with eye Dr. to avoid bullshit. I am aware of the $50 manufacturer's rebate (have claimed that before successfully).

We used VisionDirect recently.  No issues, would use again.

No advice other than make sure to compare apples to apples. I've noticed that some of the online "discount" contact lens retailers tack on fees for processing or other b.s. during the checkout process. Also, I think Costco and Walmart sell contact lenses.

I would get them from your eye doctor for that price and use the rebate.  I seriously doubt 30 dollars is the same lens.  I wouldn't want to put something on my eye not knowing it was exactly what I needed.

I've used 1800contacts, especially when they offer up a coupon (one was $80 off a year's supply), but have also gone with the dr's when they were cheaper, and it might have been the Biofinity Toric, though I've since switched to AccuVue Oasis (but I'm not in love with them.)
