I am getting married in September and we are looking to go to Costa Rica in October for our honeymoon.
Any suggestions/advice on where and how to get the best deal on airplane tickets? Thanks!

We've used https://scottscheapflights.com/ twice in the past 12 months for decent airfare deals, no affiliation, just happy subscribers.
Coincidentally we're flying to Costa Rica Friday morning using airfare found via Scott's!

I get their emails and generally they seem to be the lowest around. For example, in the last couple of months I've seen ~$200 to the Bahamas and the USVI. Not Costa Rica but nearby enough that maybe a flight around that price will come around between now and October!

I like www.airfarewatchdog.com (http://www.airfarewatchdog.com) for specific routes. You can set up a "watch" and you'll get an email if there's a sale. I will warn that you also get a lot of additional email from the website (whatever the current "best" flight is on your route), but I've had luck with it on catching British Air sales to Europe: $970 flight regularly, got an email from airfarewatchdog when it was on sale for $470, (booked for $281/ea with our Chase points) and it was back to $970 four days later.

Use google flights, then you can look at the calendar and find the lowest fare. I find it easiest to start there.

I really love Southwest Airlines so I pretty much fly exclusively on that airline using Points I get from credit card churning.

Most likely you will get the best fares on Spirit or Southwest. If you have a choice, take Southwest. We flew Spirit to Costa Rica and we all survived, but we had to read the fine print to figure out which fees we'd need to pay.
+1 to hacking Southwest points and using those.

Good stuff. Thanks for the advice!

Here is my SW link: https://www.referyourchasecard.com/223/XBYSMM89AD
I believe they are changing something so you won't be able to have two personal SW cards soon - in terms of getting the free companion pass.
Edit: They already did it. https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8a363y/swa_killing_the_ability_to_have_2_personal_ccs/
