For your husband's car - You don't say what kind of car it is and the MPG you get on it, but if it has that many miles and is worth even less than the cost of the repair, you probably won't get your money's worth out of repairing it. Buy a small fuel efficient used vehicle and sell the current car.
For your car - I would pursue the option to move to the closer office at work. Absolutely. But it sounds like the move would not be guaranteed, even if you wait. What kind of condition is this car in? Is it fuel efficient? Your husband's car replacement is priority 1, but it may be worth replacing your car with something better at some point if it gets to the point where you find out you may not get to move offices.
I do encourage you to go to 1 car if possible, because of how much money that saves. But if you can't do it, you can't do it. In my own household, we just became a 1 car household (was 2) 4 years ago. Our entire adult lives before then we each had our own car because we needed it for work reasons. You might have to do that for your situation and just try to save money in other ways.
