Carpet cleaning

What's the frugalist way to clean a carpet?  I have a new dog and she's had some accidents and vomited once.

Rent an industrial machine from your local rental place and use it.

Buy a wet carpet cleaner. They are pretty cheap and most come with pet spot cleaner.

I'm going to offer the complete *gasp* unMMM advice that I think actually will end up saving you money in the long run:

We went and bought a upright deep carpet cleaner. Specifically, this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFBJEU4?aaxitk=sZsJLzRFJ5S4VUCwg5UeLQ&pd_rd_i=B00MFBJEU4&pf_rd_p=3ff6092e-8451-438b-8278-7e94064b4d42&hsa_cr_id=2086181320601&sb-ci-n=productDescription&sb-ci-v=Rug%20Doctor%20Deep%20Carpet%20Cleaner%3B%20Upright%20Portable%20Deep%20Cleaning%20Machine%20for%20Home%20and%20Office%3B%20Extracts%20Dirt%20and%20Removes%20Stubborn%20Stains%20on%20Carpet%20and%20Upholstery%3B%20Includes%20Upholstery%20Tool%20and%20Caddy

This was after several 'rentals' of the one at the grocery store. We finally decided if we rented 2x a year that in 2 years we'd break even. We also had 3 dogs and a small child, so suffice to say it got a lot of use.

Even well trained dogs have accidents when they are sick and/or when they get old.

Now if I spill some wine or track in some mud, we can just use the carpet cleaner and it comes up 100x easier and cleaner than if I used vinegar and scrubbing.

The only drawback is it's large and needs a closet or garage for storage. If you want something smaller, or you don't have a large carpet, check out a "Little Green Machine."

Just my 2c.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
