Crafts and electronics storage?
« on: June 20, 2017, 09:17:50 AM »
I want (need) to organize the storage of my craft supplies and electronics accessories.
The biggest challenge is that some of the items are quite small (LEDs, micro-SD cards) and some are quite bigger (charger transformers with cables, computer cables).
I started out with a drawer of a chest of drawers.  Small items put in zip locks with with a piece of paper saying what was in it.  Snack size zip bags helped.  But it's a pain to find anything small in all the bags.
I tried using a bunch of different boxes (shopping online gives me boxes of all different sizes), but because they're diff. sizes they don't stack well.

I know they make/sell craft supply storage boxes (like tackle boxes), but I suspect that because they are purpose built they won't be cheap.
I've seen bins in the hardware store, but I think they either need pegboard or a frame.

Is there a good MMM way of doing this?

I have bought off brand mechanics toolboxes at auctions for organizing small things. They come with shallow drawers that pull out and you can fashion dividers for them if need be. I say off brand because the name brand one still bring pretty good prices even at auctions. The off brands won't have full extension ball bearing drawers but for my purposes where I'm not using them daily and with light loads, they work just fine.
