I'd like some career advice from those who know a little more about what's out there than I do. I've been in my current position for about 2 years now, and I'm looking to move on from here. The pay is too low for the work, there's no room for advancement, and the area is dull. So on to somewhere else!
I'm looking at sticking in my field (public libraries) because, well, it's the one I have a degree in. But I'm not not sure if staying with libraries will be the best choice for my FIRE plans. Salary tends to be on the low side across the board, plus I'm worried about coming cuts with the new administration that could result in less opportunities across the field. I have a Master's degree (Library and Information Science) and supervisory experience, so I'm wondering if there's other areas I could turn that experience to for a worthwhile position. Or if I'd just better start learning some other trade if I want a new job.
Any advice on where a white collar, public service worker with managerial/administrative experience can turn to next if the library field doesn't work out?

You could probably use that supervisory experience to pursue some shitty middle management job in government, but would you really be happier?
