Title: Car problems, advice..
Post by: navystache on September 23, 2013, 07:50:39 PM
I have a 1994 Toyota celica.  Its worth 2500-3000 in good condition.  But it's burning tons of oil and will need a total engine rebuilt and has body damage.  I have never rebuilt an engine but my friend will do it for 350 outside of parts and machine work. total will be around 1000.  If I sell it as is I think I may get 1400 for it.  Should I dish out the money to fix it or sell it?

What would you buy if you sold it?

Not sure.  The celica lift back can fit a lot of gear including 2 55inch TVS I hauled for friends.  I would find another frugal car with 2000 or so.  But after the rebuild it should be good for another 200k.

I'd rebuild the engine, and keep rocking the celica for another 5 years, but I'm a Toyota nut.
