Easy on/off Sink Faucet Attachment for hose
« on: October 31, 2019, 02:40:41 PM »
My landlord replaced my kitchen faucet recently with the cheapest builder's faucet available. This has drastically reduced the spout height which now prevents me from filling my humidifier tank (it won't fit directly under the spout anymore) among other things.

Are there any solutions for an easy on/off fitting that could have a hose attached to it so I could fill the tank? I need one that doesn't permanently reduce the height even more since my big pots barely fit under as it is. So those that screw into the faucet itself are a no go. I need to fill it twice a day so I don't want to deal with constantly removing and putting the aerator back on.

Any ideas what would be best?

You can buy a pretty nice kitchen faucet for $100, and they are not so hard to install. I'd ask the landlord if I could upgrade.

I should clarify, my landlord (or really property management company) borders on slumlord. They could care less about the state of the place. Anything would be purchased and installed on my own without approval. Otherwise, it would turn into a 1-2 month long process. Although I guess getting a Restore faucet and installing myself could be one option. But I'd rather not, mainly because the faucet was replaced because it had been leaking for years and destroyed the cabinet. A different faucet at move out could give them "proof" that I caused the damage myself by changing it out.

We used to fill our humidifier in the tub, if that's an option.

Any adapter is going to add some length to the faucet.  I was thinking something like this, to keep the intrusive replacements to a minimum:

https://www.amazon.com/SmarterFresh-Quick-Connect-Faucet-Sprayer/dp/B07H2KYCPV/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=kitchen+sink+aerator+quick+disconnect&qid=1572599495&sr=8-3

Of course the sprayer is redundant, but just to get a picture how it would attach, and as a quick disconnect.

But the bathtub suggestion is an obvious one, too.

Changing out the faucet is a one hour job - spend $100 get the one you want - put it in and change it out and take it with you to the next place.

You could just keep a rubber hose attachment under the sink and use it when you need to fill the humidifier. I have an older version of this (from the '70s) that I use on our basement faucet.

You can also just get a $0.99 watering can. Fill that and then pour into humidifier or pots.
