Scooter insurance
« on: April 13, 2014, 10:11:14 AM »
I bought a scooter for $2.3k as primary mode of transport recently and got just above the minimum coverage mandated by state of California. The limits are
Bodily Injury Liability:  $30,000/$60,000
Property Damage Liability: $5,000
I don't have much experience with MC insurance, so I am wondering if this is sufficient or am I missing some scenario.

If any of you can share your experiences or wisdom, that would be very helpful for me.

Thanks,

That's fine. Absurdly improbable you cause more than $30k of injury to someone else with a scooter or do more than $5k in property damage.

Not directly, but you could easily do something stupid that causes another person to die (miss a stop sign, cross-traffic car swerves to avoid you and runs over a pedestrian... I don't know but stuff can happen).

Of course, but you aren't insuring against every single possibility. Do you have bike insurance too?

Run into a Mercedes and you'll be paying a lot more than $3K for the bumper repair.

Yes, my umbrella insurance covers liabilities incurred while riding a bike.
