Cancel Medical Payments "MedPay" auto insurance coverage?
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:19:51 AM »
My family has excellent health insurance coverage through my wife's public employer.  I've read that if you have good health insurance, you should cancel your Medical Payments coverage in your auto insurance policy, which according to Geico, covers:

Quote
Medical Payments coverage pays medical, dental, hospital and funeral expenses for you, household relatives and guest passengers injured in your insured vehicle. This coverage extends to household relatives injured in other vehicles or if struck as pedestrians.

My Medical Payments covers "$10,000" and that costs me $109 every six-months.  I want to cancel; am I missing something?  Is there any reason why I should not cancel?

As long as everyone in your household is covered by other insurance, I don't think there is a need for it.

I don't carry it on my policy, and I carry just about everything else you can- all with very high coverage limits.
