Can you complain to amazon customer care to much?
« on: March 25, 2016, 09:17:33 AM »
I have prime, and I have been told lately that if you don't get things on time or get the wrong order, etc. that you should complain to customer service and they will usually help you out in some way or another.

The thing is, I order 90% of the things I own off of Amazon so this happens all the time. I was just wondering, if I complain every time I don't get my item in two days, will they eventually stop taking me seriously?

I assume they can see how many times I have contacted customer service? Anyone know if that is true or not?

I would imagine they will have a record of all the times you've contacted them. From my experience, I have never had any issue with Amazon - from having fraudulent purchases reversed to refunds on items which drop in price to returns. They always seem to take care of it without question.

I don't personally know anyone who has gone through this with Amazon, but take a look at this article:

http://www.techwalls.com/amazon-ban-return-too-many-items/

It does seem that the couple there was returning a high number of items which caused their account to be flagged and eventually suspended (for violation of TOS agreement). From what I can tell, it's at Amazon's ultimate discretion.

I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you're not returning a lot of things. If they make an error, that should never be something counted against you - the customer. If you do start to worry, I would focus your efforts on items that are over a certain value (greater than $50 or so).

Not Amazon, a different company, and I posted to their community bulletin board about my frustration that the product I had purchased was not working as advertised. The product in question is supposed to sync automatically with my smartphone every 20 minutes but it never actually does. The customer service response was to walk me through a process I can do on my laptop to manually initiate a sync. That process works but only 75% of the time. There is another process they suggest I try in the other 25%.

When I suggested that this was not a good customer experience, that the product really should function as advertised, I was accused of being rude and demanding!!!!

I fully expected to be asked if my frustration had more to do with my monthly cycle than the product. Needless to say I won't be recommending said product to fellow mustachians.

If you are paying for 2 days shipping, you should get it in two days. It doesn't have to be complaining, but I would think they should be alerted to it every time they miss the deadline.

If this is happening to you quite often, then they should be digging in to find out where the breakdown is and trying to fix it.

Also, they give you the expected delivery date when you order, and sometimes it is more than the two business days, so you probably want to check that before making a complaint.

Personally, unless I need the product right away, I've been foregoing the 2 day shipping and racking up the $1 video/mp3 credits they've been handing out recently.

Customer service (I loath to call it 'care') is also going to see how much and how how often you order from them.
They're not going to want to lose such a great customer.
I order from Amazon about once a month, and usually quite a few things (or just a couple of $$ things).  I add things to my cart and/or wish list thru the month.
If something is late, I use the tracking # first.   If they give me a status and and ETA, I'm most usually good with that.  If not, I contact customer service.
There is never a reason to accept something that isn't what you ordered and paid for.
I returned 4 or 5 things in the last year - they just weren't what I thought they'd be.  One was a toaster over that simply wouldn't fit in the corner of my kitchen counter - because it was also a pizza oven.

My problem with Amazon customer service is that they only deal with a handful of specific issues. I spent the vast majority of a rainy weekend trying to contact them about all the *crap* that shows up when you search for something - I got stuck in circle of click here for other...

If you are paying for 2 days shipping, you should get it in two days.

2 day shipping doesn't mean you get it 2 days after you place the order, it means it takes 2 days once shipped.  It can take more than zero days to get it out of the warehouse.  Once it leaves the warehouse, it's 2 day shipping from that date.  This is why they give you a expected arrival date.  If you don't get it by the latest expected arrival, then contact them.

The 2 day shipping for me is if I order on Wednesday I get it on Friday. Guess I'm lucky

While I agree that this is what 2 days shipping technically means, for me as a customer 2 day shipping means I get it in 2 days from the second I place the order.
And I can assure you I am reading the fine print quite often, I would say more often than a normal customer, as I am a tester and I pay attention to details.
I think a lot of Amazon customers have a surprise when they realize what 2 days shipping means :).
Still, 2 days shipping and getting my items in 5 is not fine for me.
And the customer understanding on things is important in the business Amazon is in.
Fortunately Amazon is taking customers opinions seriously :).
