Can someone recommend a good shop vac?
« on: November 05, 2018, 10:41:44 AM »
We are looking for a shop vac, mostly to clean up our garage and car, but also small construction projects. Any ones you’ve liked? Any features to look for or elements to avoid?

Any wet-or-dry shop vac will do you fine, this is a product that's pretty much become standardized

Go to home Depot, you'll spend about $100, and come home with a shop vac that you'll never give a second thought to for the rest of your life

I have this one

Oh I never thought of Black Friday but that will be a perfect time to buy.

Thank you both.

We love the Stinger. It is only about 2 gallons, which is great for small projects. Please buy one so that they keep making them and therefore keep stocking the filters!!

If you plan on using it a good amount without hearing protection, and you value your hearing - get a festool or a fein. It's a BIFL purchase. Other shop vacs will last a while too but the quality of the fit and finish isn't there. The plastic parts will break easier and leave you wondering whether to repair or replace and the answer will always be replace.

I have a stinger that stopped working. I paid 18 bucks for it, kind of a no brainer. Garbage bin.

Also, if you have an old home and therefore lead paint, a quality HEPA filter makes a lot of sense for any construction project that will be disturbing lead paint.
