I have a savings account at a credit union that I don't want to close (longtime account & they hold my mortgage). But I have $750 that I want to withdraw and they won't let me without paying a wire transfer fee! I added an external transfer account to my online account, but then couldn't push an ACH out so I called them, and they said that website function is only for ACH in. I asked if he could process the ACH by phone - nope - could they write me a check - nope - my only option was to pay for a wire transfer.
It's not convenient for me to get to a branch.
Can I use ACH pull at another bank to get the $ out of the account? The CU website is silent on this (their website is silent on the whole "once you deposit $ into this account you can't get it out without paying a wire fee" also). I searched for general limits on savings accounts, and all I could find was the 6-transaction monthly limit set by the feds.
If I do this, does anyone know if there's a risk that they'll block the transaction? FWIW, the money I want to pull out was sent to them via ACH! This is a little frustrating.
