Advice for Shopping for Life Insurance?
« on: February 15, 2017, 08:22:47 PM »
I just had my first kid, so I feel it's time to consider term life insurance. Do you have any advice on the best place/way to shop for term life insurance? I just am not sure that Google is the best place to look.

Thanks!

We had good luck with Select Quote for my (healthy, 30-something) wife.  We had to use a "high risk" agent for me because I have multiple medical conditions that made shopping around for insurance harder.

Thanks Simplecycle! We actually might be shopping just for my husband for similar reasons. I have a $500,000 policy through my employer and it looks like I'd have a hard time getting cheap life insurance outside my company. I've had high cholesterol for unknown reasons since I was 19. I'm healthy in every other way, but my cholesterol is high enough that the "regular" insurance companies won't take me. I thought about seeing if I could maybe lower it with some dieting (though I'm not overweight, so I'm not even sure how successful that would be), but then I read that breastfeeding also increases cholesterol, so I've given up on the dieting attempt until after I'm done breastfeeding!
