bodily insurance liability. keep the coverage?
« on: January 13, 2016, 08:51:33 AM »
I am trying to lower our auto insurance premium. When I look at the details the big one that sticks out to me is called Underinsured/Uninsured bodily insurance liability. basically if some wreaks into you and they do not have enough coverage then auto insurance will cover the costs.

However we have health insurance with my employer, however when i asked our in office administrator if this (in a wreck but they do not have (good) auto insurance situation) was covered they said that the health insurance company will try to get who ever they can to pay for the medical bills before paying the costs. My organization is self insured so I took that statement to mean they would not tell me to do that but they would cover the costs if they had to.

So...do i cancel this part of my auto insurance and save a ton or keep it? thoughts?

This seems like a small amount on our vehicles.  One is $45 for 6 months and the other is $40 for 6 months.  It may be required by your state/local jurisdiction.  I'd say keep it, but maybe yours is much more expensive and not legally required.  To me, it seems a small price to pay to not worry about handling insurance companies bickering with each other.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
