Organic hair highlights
« on: September 24, 2014, 06:18:32 PM »
The last couple of years (prior to becoming mustachian) I've been getting organic blonde highlights in my hair which costs a fortune.  I really can't stand my natural hair colour and have chemical sensitivities so I can't do cheap hair colour with chemicals.    Any suggestions?

Not sure how organic it is but my niece uses hydrogen peroxide and sunshine for highlights.   It is more subtle so YMMV.

I've heard that you can lighten hair with lemon juice, but never tried that myself.

Hydrogen peroxide (related: diluted honey, but not nearly as effective), lemon, and sun.  A combo works best, the 'net has recipes and instructions.

As a less expensive product, I've heard people use Sun In, but I'm not sure how the ingredients would agree with you.
