Reading list for career development
« on: November 28, 2019, 07:44:12 AM »
I'm on the hunt for books, journals, and serious blogs about roads, tunnels, bridges, railways, and waterways on the one hand, and about how public projects and development aid work on the other. These subjects show up in my work (translation) often, but I was never formally educated in any of them, so I have to do what I can with books.

Engineering types on the MMM forums: Can you point me toward the essential reading on these topics?

Here's some books I worked through this year:

The 4-hour work-week (absolutely phenomenal. I found it lit a fire in me I hadn't experienced since college)
The Magic of Thinking Big (This book is great - it's an endless pool of great advice for "how to ace your job")
The 10x rule (sadly the title says most of the book, but still a good read)
How to lose at almost everything and still win big (I really enjoy reading anything by Scott Adams - his humility and glibness make for a fun read and it's very education).

Hope this helps! Good luck!
