Bootstrapping a startup business hack ideas
« on: October 06, 2014, 07:27:14 AM »
Hello!  Long time lurker here; there's great advice and good reading around.

I finally had a reason to post a question the community.  I am starting a business in staffing and am looking for good startup business hacks to get services and/or branding for free or almost free.

For example, I'll be using Dropbox and Evernote for file sharing. I've been looking into areas for free phone use (google voice and talkatone).

However, I'm not 100% satisfied on getting the phone support to work.  My question here:  does anyone use a solid VoIP over wifi through a computer/headset where the number can also be forwarded to a cell phone?

Also, any other great bootstrapping hacks would be greatly appreciated!

Mine aren't too original - I am working from home with a partner and using free file sharing services (Dropbox and Evernote).

I don't have a specific suggestion for VoIP but this site popped up this week: https://glacial-crag-1519.herokuapp.com/

It's more focused on traditional Silicon Valley startups but if you go to the Tools section you might be able to find something eg Slack. These are all currently "best of breed" in their respective categories (not that there aren't better alternatives, just that I don't think you could go wrong with anything linked to by this site).

I'd look at Freshbooks/stripe to take credit card payments.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
