I have seen a book referenced on the forums that basically explains the stock market and why it is not gambling. If I remember correctly, it was supposed to helps explain the stock market and help alleviate people's fears. I cannot remember the name of that book to save my life.
In short, I tried to explain to somebody about investing. The person kept focusing on the idea that they could "Lose all the money" they put in. I was unable to explain that investing is good, and that the scenario where you lose ALL the money from investing is the same scenario where almost any amount of money is worth less than the dry goods in your pantry. I tried to explain that if you put money in accounts that don't earn anything, you lose to inflation, but the idea that there is risk trumped anything I could say. (We're talking 529 account, so there's an 18 year timeline).
In short, can somebody tell me what the book that is *I think* fairly frequently referenced on the forums to help people get over their fear of investing is?
