Title: big storage MP3 player suggestion?
Post by: Healthie on September 05, 2016, 10:15:26 AM
Hey guys,

looking to replace my 4 gig nano with something with beefier storage space. Ideally I'd like something 40gigs+ that can work with itunes (or another easy to learn program for music). Alternatively, I think my phone contract is up soonish and I should be able to get a new phone - what phone(s) have big storage for music?  Thanks!

If you're often on wifi (or have T-Mobile so music streaming doesn't count towards your data use), Google Play will let you upload 50,000 songs for free.

At the price of micro SD cards now... I would think any device that takes a micro SD would easily accommodate 64GB for about $20.

As to wanting to work via itunes... I can't help you there.  I'd pay extra to have a devices that are not tied down to itunes (or for that matter I don't want them tied to any piece of software).  Personally, just being able to mount the device, copy data, unmount device seems the most optimal.

Get a phone with SD card slot (rules out all iPhones and Nexus phones) or buy Sandisk Sansa Clip - they support 64GB cards now.

I would recommend ANY program except iTunes.  My sisters had iPods, and iTunes was a bear.  They had to go through a lot to keep it from wiping out their collections when they tried to add new music via a different computer.

If you can do iTunes, you'll be fine with easy, nice Winamp or something similar.  I am seconding the suggestions to get some non-Apple device with a slot for SD cards to boost capacity.

I'll echo the rest of the anti-iTunes chatter.  I too would pay extra for something that didn't require iTunes.  iTunes is a turd.

microSD cards are cheap.  If you're replacing your smartphone, get one with a microSD slot and you're good to go.
