Back prior to being mustachian I went to a variety of basket parties. I know what you are saying how could you. All of them are in good shape and want to sell them. Would you recommend a local consignment store, auction house, ebay--worried about shipping and fraud here or other. I also have some porcelin teddy bears but I may keep those for my little girls. They probably would not fetch as high a price anyway.

I don't know much about this, but your best best is to find a local community group dedicated to the specific type of collectible and then see what shopping service is most commonly used - esp if you are worried about breaking during mailing. Compare your pieces with what's listed, as far as quality, price, and demand. Then tailor your sale to fit how quickly you want them gone. Def make sure to look up mailing cost and include!
If using ebay or craigslist, make sure to take many good photos!

I wouldn't really worry about fraud as much on eBay. Pretty much all transactions go through PayPal anyway so it's not really possible for someone to scam you on there and get away with it like it used to be. You can upload 12 photos before they start charging you, so take 12 good shots for your listing. Of course, do all this after you get a handle on what this stuff might go for. Good luck!

1) get an idea of what things are worth (check ebay)
2) if things are worth a significant amount of money (at least $5-10 + shipping), then start looking for avenues to sell (otherwise, give up now and hold a garage sale! it doesn't matter how much you paid - it matters how much people are willing to pay!)
3) look for local groups to sell to (esp. for large/fragile items) - offer slightly less than ebay prices
4) Sell what's left on ebay or similar
While it is possible to get scammed on ebay, it's unlikely to happen unless you're selling something that's quickly convertible to cash (iphones, etc.). And the % chance of getting scammed is low - one out of a thousand transactions (or whatever % is is) won't sink you compared to the increased prices you'll get on ebay compared to a garage sale (or never selling stuff!)
