Best way to get a cheap bike for a week in San Diego
« on: June 27, 2016, 01:23:59 PM »
I'll be in San Diego this week for a conference, (Wed-Mon) and my hotel is 1.4 miles from the convention center.  I'm planning to walk, but if I could find an inexpensive bike alternative, I would do that.  I'd rather not go thru the hassle of the whole "buy on CL / sell on CL" process, but...  I guess I could swap the other queen sized bed and 4 nights at a Hilton (all free thanks to travel rewards) for the loan of a bike...

Rental?  Loaner (any offers)?  Other Ideas?

It looks like San Diego has a bike share: http://www.decobike.com/sandiego/map-location  Not sure where the convention center and hotel you're staying at are, but it seems likely there's something close(ish).

You could also try spinlister: https://www.spinlister.com/search/s/california/c/san-diego/loc/32.715738/-117.16108380000003/z/13

I've used bike shares before in a handful of cities and had good experiences.  I've not tried spinlister, but like the concept (like AirBnB for sports gear).
