Title: Best no-fee credit cards
Post by: Exhale on December 18, 2014, 10:27:42 PM
I'm looking for a good credit card that doesn't have an annual fee. I'm frugal and spend very little so I just need a good dependable card that doesn't charge me money to use it.

Thanks!

It depends on your credit score; if excellent, Capital One Quicksilver is good. If you are new to credit, see if your bank has a no fee credit card that is Visa or Mastercard & offers cash back rewards.

Citi Double Cash gives you 2% back on everything, as does the Fidelity American Express. These are probably the two best no-fee cash back "all around" credit cards right now.
Other cards have bigger cash back percentages for "category" spending, but it sounds like you don't want to juggle cards.

If your primary spending is needs (i.e. groceries) the Sallie Mae Mastercard gives you 5% back on groceries (and gas) up to $250 per month (each category). (It also gives you 5% back on up to $750 for bookstores including Amazon, but if you spend very little, this category may not apply to you.) It's 1% back on everything else. No annual fee. $25 signup bonus.

I highly recommend the AMEX Blue Cash Everyday.  3% on groceries ($6000 annual limit), 2% on gas, and 1% on everything else.  No annual fee, and you get that legendary AMEX customer service and access to many of their good cash back deals (spend $30 on amazon, get $5 back, etc.)
