Reducing commuting costs between school and work?
« on: July 17, 2015, 09:07:45 PM »
I have recently found the MMM blog and forum, and I've noticed that one of the common suggestions is to decrease commuting costs by moving to be close to work, but that doesn't always seem possible?  I'm a recent college graduate who just started a full time job, but I am also continuing to go to school part time to finish a master's degree (reimbursed by my employer).  The catch is that my job and my school are about a 40 minute drive away from each other... I go to work 5 days a week, and go to school around 5 days a week as well.  My apartment is right off the highway that connects the two, but are there other ways to reduce my commuting costs?

What kind of car do you drive? Is it a gas guzzler? Do you own it outright or is it financed?

Take the bus if possible? Seems likely that both your school and employer might be on a bus route if you're on a highway in between them.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
