Best credit card bonus? I have $4000 in medical bills...
« on: January 20, 2018, 09:45:24 AM »
So my HDHP has a $4000 OOP max, and I’m sitting here in the hospital with my son for the third day, so I’m assuming we will hit that this month.  Any ideas for the best bonus to go after with this? I thought I saw an offer for $750 for spending $7500 but that was awhile ago. Maybe it was an AMEX card? Normally I could never hit tbat, so I just dismissed it. I checked DOC and couldn’t find it. Hubby and I have already done the chase cards, and I will was mainly hoping for cash back.

I've always found this site helpful: https://www.nerdwallet.com/credit-cards#

Sorry to hear your son is ill, will keep him/your family in my thoughts.

Check out DOCs list of best credit cards for January 2018.  I'm sure some of them are cash back:

Take a look at reddit.com/r/churning

If you're under 5/24 with Chase, and have good credit, the answer is probably one of the Ultimate Rewards Chase cards.

Chase Sapphire Preferred would be good for the $4,000 spend.

Or grab the Amex Business Gold Rewards card and get 50,000 Amex points after you spend $5,000: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/business/business-credit-cards/american-express-business-gold-card-amex

Both of these are worth about $700-800 if you sell the miles.

Anybody here got the Chase Ink Preferred business card, but not owned an official business? Some googling says providing your SS works. I sell stuff on ebay every now and then and have to buy shipping supplies so I say that is a good enough business. :)

I am under the Chase 24/5 rule. I did just get the Sapphire Preferred card a week ago. Should I wait a bit to apply for the Ink card or does it not matter? I've got a large tax bill to pay this quarter so need a second card to pay taxes with.

What do you mean when you say sell the miles? Can they be converted to cash or do you actually mean sell the miles to another person? I'm not familiar with that option.

Be very careful about selling miles online.*  It violates credit card and airline rules.  If they find out they will close your account and confiscate whatever you have left.  (Obviously, you could buy a ticket for a friend or family memeber with points have them reimburse you.)

*Yes, I know people do it and not all get caught.

This is what I was thinking, which is why I asked what he meant.

I just did using eBay as my reason.  When I applied it said to call a phone number for final approval.  I called it and they just asked me some questions about my income, nothing about my "business" and I was approved.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
