In another thread, it was mentioned that AmEx had a deal where you could get $25 back on a $75 (or more) purchase on Amazon. Someone said it works if you buy an Amazon gift card, so essentially you get $75 of Amazon "credit" for only $50. I don't really buy things from Amazon, so even though I am signed up for the deal, I haven't bought the gift card because I don't know what I would buy.
So I ask you: What is the best "bang for your buck" from Amazon? Surely there must be something to convince me to take advantage of what seems like a pretty good offer.

Anything you can resell locally for more than you paid for it ;)

You can buy other retailer's gift cards on Amazon as well.

Amazon sells everything. Anything you'd buy otherwise, you could buy there instead.

I regularly buy 35lb bags of dog food for the same price, or less, on Amazon compared to local stores and I get free shipping to my door. I generally get dog treats and poop bags from them as well.

Around here you can also get Amazon credits at Coinstar counting machines. It seems like every stinking bank around here will charge you money to count coins. Coinstar also charges.... UNLESS you opt for the Amazon card. We have a pickle jar we toss all our coins in. It generally holds about $120, so when it's full: "free" stuff.

The Amex-Amazon deal ended early. It must've been more popular than expected.

Yeah, I think you had to add it to the card by a certain date, and then use the card to buy whatever before 12/31. The offer was on my card so I went ahead and purchased the gift card. I suppose I could always use it as a gift...
