Bartering

Who has had luck with bartering for needed services?  How did you find someone to barter with?  Any luck using a barter network or service like Simbi?

I’ve been on Simbi since January and I’ve earned some Simbi but haven’t really found anything to spend it on.  The biggest issue is I’d love to barter for local services, especially handyman help, but a lot of Simbi is virtual.  I can offer things like resume review, website updates, a home cooked meal, or babysitting.

I’d love to learn more from people who have successfully bartered.

I haven't done this, but I know folks who join neighborhood Facebook groups, and then can trade things like use of tools, or shared cost to rent tools, shared childcare, etc. It's works more on a trust system. You could always start a group in your area and post what you're looking for, and see who takes you up on it.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
