As of March 17, best rewards credit card?
« on: March 17, 2015, 09:53:48 AM »
I missed the fabulous Southwest 50,000 miles rewards cards because I did not think I would meet the spend requirement, but now I am about to buy an $1800 plane ticket for my daughter, plus a $  500 ticket for myself next month, along with the usual few hundred dollars for other expenses.  Anyone have a suggestion for the best bonus card right now?  I don't want to do Southwest for less, as I'm hoping they will offer the big bonus again soon.  Thanks!

WHY are you buying 2300 dollars in plane tickets.  you could easily manufacture that spend and fly for free.

The $1800 is for my teen to fly to China on specific days in July.  She is meeting up with a group to do volunteer work.  Do you really think she could fly free?  How?  And I'm not sure what you mean by "easily manufacture that spend."

you can get the barclay us air card and that would get you 50k points after making just one purchase ... these points will transfer to american airlines in a month or so. you could then get the aa card from citi bank and that would give you another 50k in points.

you could also just get the barclays arrival mastercard and put the flight on there and that would take 500 off once you met your minimum spend of 3k on that card.

Get the Barclay Arrival, put that flight to China on the card.  You need to spend $3000 in 3 months.  You can then subtract $440 from the cost of that flight.
