Are security window screens worth it?
« on: May 12, 2017, 05:15:37 PM »
Hello,

I am looking to install security screens for my patio door and window on the first floor of my townhome. I was quoted over the phone $3100-$3500 with Security Screen Masters in Phoenix, AZ  http://www.securityscreenmasters.com.

Pros: security of course
lower AC costs in the hot Arizona summer months. My house is east exposure and gets a ton of sun in the mornings.
I can leave the windows and patio open during the cool nights so that it cools down the house and saves more money on AC costs. I can't do that now because I worry someone will break in easily.
no need to buy outdoor solar screens or sun screens to reduce the amount of sun light.

Cons: it's expensive.

I plan on staying in my house for the next 5 years at least.
Does anyone have opinions or experience with security screens? This is the most reputable place I could find in Phoenix.

Thanks for your input,

J

I would say leave them open and stop worrying about someone breaking in.  If they want in security screens aren't going to stop them.
