Title: Apps or spreadsheets for tracking miles, expenses, etc... as an independent cont
Post by: Swat on December 13, 2017, 06:39:35 PM
In July I will be starting a job as a new attending physician (graduate residency in June). The position is as an independent contractor so I know there will be several expenses that will help on my tax return in regards to business deductions (travel mileage, conferences, home office, work equipment, etc...). Are there any apps or premade excel worksheets that people have found most helpful (or willing to share) to track all of this information and subsequently make it easy to send to their accountant at the end of the year? Thanks!

For miles, there's the milesIQ app that a lot of my coworkers like. Personally, I just do an old school spreadsheet. Just remembers, IRS requires actual odometer numbers, not just trip distances. =)

Got nothing for the expenses, sorry.
