Help me find the travel hack guy
« on: April 22, 2015, 10:22:29 AM »
Mr. MMM mentioned or linked to a fellow frugal blogger who could offer specific advice on travelling to Ecuador for tremendous savings.  Can you help me find the travel hack guy?

Miles doesn't do much travel hacking blogging (none at all, IIRC?), he's more on the manufactured spend aspect of it.

Maybe Brad over at RichmondSavers.com ?  EMail him and he can probably help.

There's a lot of places to get travel hacking advice/tips, including on these forums.  :)
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Arebelspy,

What does "manufactured spend" mean?

Making it look like you are spending a lot of money without actually spending a lot of money (or any at all)

Arebelspy,

its basically making it look like you're spending money.  so you can get CC bonus/rewards without spending the money.  You can use a CC at target to load a prepaid debit card.  Then you can transfer that money to your bank account and pay off the Credit card ... to the tune of 5k /month.  so you can fake spend 5k/month which will get you a free trip to hawaii in about 3 months the way i did it.

The one mentioned by MMM, who also curates the credit card section on the website is Brandon.

Here is his blog.

Another site:    http://clubthrifty.com/travel-coaching/

Holly will come up with a CC bonus strategy for you.

Off-hand I'd try to find a 50,000 mile offer from Delta.  I got an e-mail offer today with that bonus - I guess for being a Delta frequent flyer member.
