Only six - I thought they congregated in the thousands - or do they only do that at Australian bases?

Thousands at the rookery.  Smaller groups out wandering the sea ice.

My pictures from the penguin colony are kind of gross.  There is a lot of poo, and the penguins turn themselves brown with it.

Someone who had run the Antarctica Marathon mentioned the course went through a rookery and it was impressive and impressively disgusting.
