Anyone want to beta read my romance novel?
« on: June 21, 2016, 08:15:18 AM »
So after several months weeks I think my project is ready to be seen by eyes other than mine.  Here are the deets, as the kids say:

Contemporary romance
Roughly 54,000 words
Sex--hard PG/soft R
Formatting might be a bit wonky

PM me and I'll either send you a link to the manuscript on Google Docs or a copy of the manuscript in Word.  You can make comments but if you see grievous errors let me know if you want to clean up stuff.

I'm nervous, but BE HONEST!

Into the abyss ...

Nope, I'm a n00b.  Send me your email in a PM and let me know if you want Google Docs or Word--thanks!

contemporary romance?  IDK what that is, like chick-lit, Emily Giffin kind of stuff?  I read that occasionally...

I'd be down with a beta swap if you'd like. My romance is about 65K words, though.

Contemporary romance (well, set in 2001), I'd say it's more than PG, closer to R, language is definitely R

I'm on the second or third draft, depending on the chapter and would love some feedback on some new material I've integrated in the last month.

PM if you're interested in a swap.

I'm a pretty gentle critter, as well as an trained editor, so I won't shred your book, even if you want me to :).

I'd like to read it, I'm in the market for a book to read on my commute as have decided I'm not allowed to spend money on books in 2016.

I'll send you my email.

Phew, I was worried that all y'all would ignore it.  :D

@catcc--contemporary romance just means it takes place now.  My book leans somewhat more towards chick lit, though.

@marcela--right now I'm just looking for feedback.  I'll be selling shredding rights if necessary.  :D

@justajane--check your PM.

Thanks in advance to all, I'll organize and you should all have your requested copies tomorrow!

You're working on a book in a different genre, right?  I'm not misremembering?

This is just something you did in the meantime?
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
