Anyone using the Brave web browser
« on: June 30, 2019, 11:31:20 AM »
https://brave.com/

I ran across this a few days ago & I've just installed it to give it a try.

It seems to be blocking all the ads.    Websites are loading quickly again!

I suspect it may impact web-sites economics if it becomes widespread though.

Interesting.  I hadn't heard of that.  I may mess with it - thanks!  Currently I run Chrome with Ghostery on heavy machines, Chrome with uBlock origin on lighter hardware (Ghostery is a bit heavy for some of my lighter ARM boxes).

Brave has some privacy concerns, such as its business model still being ad-driven.

I use firefox with tracking protection enabled everywhere (Built in option) and UBlock Origin to get the rest. If you have problem with mozilla, the GNU-Icecat version without any of the mozilla junk can be nice!

Yeah.   At least they're trying a new model with Brave though.
