Anyone trade GLD? Have an easy way to figure out cost basis?
« on: April 21, 2013, 01:55:02 PM »
Man what a whippin this is.  There's a PDF on the GLD spdr site, but it doesn't quite tell you how to fill in what you need to for the turbotax fields.

Anyone have experience here?

I'd prefer to not pay an accountant $300 to figure it out.

The purchase price would be on your statement when you bought it. Easy if you just bought one lot. If there are multiple purchases, then they need to be listed separately. Hope this helps.

Most brokers now do the cost basis calculation for you. Prior to that I use an old copy of Quicken and import all the transactions. It can get nuts with all the short term/long term stuff!

Turbotax can import every transaction / cost basis / etc. directly from most of the major brokers.  You just need your online login/password.
