Any NYCers interested in splitting a cow share?
« on: September 05, 2013, 05:46:11 PM »
I live in Queens with my wife and 1/2 a cow is going to be too much for us, but the price jumps from $4.50 per pound for half a cow to $7.99 a pound for a quarter cow at the place we're buying from.  Would anyone be interested in splitting 1/2 a cow with us?  You'll get 75 pounds of meat at $4.50 per pound which comes to $337.50 depending on final poundage.  You'll also need about 3.5 cubic feet of freezer space.  You'll get a ton of high quality meat for a really Mustachian price!

That is so damned tempting.  We're in Astoria.  Can you link me to the details?  Cuts of meat we'd get, quality of animal treatment, etc?  The storage might be tough too...that is a TON of beef for us but give me more info if you can?

I'm in Flushing, and I would potentially be. When would the cow be arriving? Thanks to a bulk sausage order from my hometown and a FreshDirect screwup that resulted in six (SIX!) briskets, our freezer is kind of packed at the moment.

But this is a lot of Queens people! Is anyone else thinking meetup?

The shares are available now according to them.  I would imagine it might take a week or two to get delivery.

We are out at present as well. Let me know next time but after a recent costco run, we dont have enough space. Would definitely be interested in the future though!

I live in Queens too! We should totally do a meetup, there are lots of fantastic bulk food options that we could take advantage of if we all went in on it together!
