Travel for work? Rental car reimbursement?
« on: August 03, 2016, 01:54:57 PM »
I have a Mustachian problem. I don't have a car, but my boss at work REALLY wants me to go to a conference for several days in a city 2 hours away. If I rent a car to drive back and forth to this conference, should my workplace reimburse me for the cost of the car rental and insurance?

It doesn't matter if we, or anyone, says they should.
You need to find out if your company will, or won't.

At my company there are three options in order of preference:

1. Take a company car
2. Take your car and get mileage pay
3. Rent a car and get reimbursed

100% yes.

If it is a large company, generally the HR poloicy will state you are required for your own transportian to and from work.
Any travel should be covered by the company, either paying for a ticket, or car rentals, or paying you extra money to drive your own car.

Is anyone else going? You might be able to carpool.
