Which Cell Phone Provider Should I Switch To?
« on: May 19, 2014, 06:25:09 PM »
I currently have an AT&T iphone 5s and am paying $70/month for service (including taxes & fees). I keep hearing about people who are paying far less, so I'm seriously considering switching. I definitely want to keep my phone when I switch.

Here is an estimate of my usage per month:
-200 text messages
-200 MB data
-950 minutes (this is at the high end, it's often less than half of this)

One more thing -- I have a short trip to Europe planned later this year and I need to use my phone when I go. I'm going to be on a different flight than everyone else I'm traveling with, so being able to use my phone abroad during the trip is a must.

What do you recommend?

I'd recommend you give the guide a read.

Short answer, Airvoice $30 plan. Longer answer, read the guide.

Thanks for your help! I talked to my boyfriend about switching his plan too, but he's a very loyal AT&T customer so he's not ready for that yet. Since he already has a family plan set up and I'm still under contract, we were able to add my phone to his plan for $30/mo without having to pay any early termination fees or deal with unlocking of my device. So the plan currently is to stay on his plan until my contract is up and then re-evaluate.
