Antiques, heirlooms and collectables
« on: July 31, 2013, 01:13:26 PM »
Does anyone have antiques, heirlooms or collectables that you plan to pass on to your kids?

Assuming it's worth at least a few hundred but you don't need the money, is it better just to sell it?

I've been trying to simplify my life now for a solid year.  That has meant selling off hobbies and generally streamlining my life so I can enjoy my time more.

I've noticed that I've been receiving more and more junk from people as "presents" and other gifts.  I don't know what to do with it besides give it away or trash it.  I've told people I don't want anything but I still seem to end up collecting things junk.

Do your kids want them?  Have you asked them?

My kid is 5, one option is to hold on to it until she's old enough to decide but that may be a while.
