I've been an Amazon Prime member for many years now. They've increase it a bit and well it's due around December for me.
Last year, I got lucky because MetroPCS was throwing in free phone (which I sold for $100) along with free Amazon.com subscription for a year. It's been great not paying anything for it this year. (I canceled the MetroPCS a month later with no penalty -- data speed was horrid.)
Anyone know of any other deals currently offered to get this Amazon Prime subscription for free? Or a steep discount?
I've entertained the idea of dropping it. I could do without the Amazon Prime videos (I don't watch tv much and have netflix anyways so that is really more than enough for me). However I do have Amazon Echo x 2 and I don't know how dropping the subscription would affect the functionality of those two devices. I also have a kindle but I never really buy any books for it.. I suppose I could do that without a membership. Not interested in their monthly free books they offer to prime members. It's my understanding, and also from what I recall years ago, you have to buy at least $25 or so of stuff to get free shipping and that shipping takes much longer. Maybe I should just pay this yearly subscription and not try and figure out how to cut it? Seems like it's almost a necessity lol.

This probably doesn't help you, but in case there are any members who it would help, or an members who know anyone it would I learned recently that amazon offers discounted memberships to people with EBT or Medicaid cards: https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=16256994011
