Am I making the right choices with 401 (k)
« on: May 21, 2015, 05:29:14 PM »
Hey mustachians,

Background: 26 years old, 2 dependents, base salary 55k and up to 65k with bonuses.

I just started contributing to my company's 401 k plan which offers 100% match up to 4% of salary. I currently contribute 5% and have allocated as follows:

Vanguard 2055 target fund - 60%
Vanguard FTSE All World ex-US EFT - 40%

Am I totally messing up?

Nothing "wrong" with that but you do have a lot of overlap.
Vanguard 2055 target fund is already 32% Vanguard Total International Stock Index Fund Investor Shares, which is practically the same as Vanguard FTSE All World ex-US EFT.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
