Productive uses of spare time?
« on: November 10, 2015, 10:08:48 AM »
Someone calls and tells you they will be 15 minutes late meeting you at the carpool parking lot and you are already there. Or there is a long line at the grocery store..

How do you invest small intervals of spare time when opportunity presents itself?

Check email.  Read, if a library book is handy.

Feel the breeze.  Enjoy breathing.  Appreciate the sun/rain/whatever.  Clean out the car/purse/backpack.  Whatever I feel like doing at the moment.

I have lots of books on my glorious antimustachian Nexus 6.

Yesterday on a 15 minute subway ride, I closed my eyes and did a small meditation.

Learning to program? I recently got introduced to automatetheboringstuff.com for python, and I'm hooked. Goal is to automate all of the crappy repetitive tasks I have to do at work to make room for the exciting stuff.

What's spare time?

(Said sort of tongue-in-cheek, yes, but also genuinely.  It may help you to reflect on this question. My time is so limited, none of it is spare, that I can afford to waste.)
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.
