Hi friends -
I'm TOTALLY new here, so bear with me.
Long story short: I live in LA and just scored an amazing job at a great company in Burbank. Was thinking of relocating to Burbank to decrease commute. Just came from looking at an apartment (w/roommates) where the rent would be $635 per month with utilities. This would be half of my rent now.
Roommates seem fine, but I'm just not the roommate kind of person (if I stay in the mindset that it's temporary, I should be fine).
Should I suck it up and do it??

I mean...halving your rent is nice. I don't think anyone can give you a truly informed opinion without knowing rest of your financial situation and your willingness to pay (in terms of money and years spent working) to live alone. Are you in debt? How much are you saving? What are your financial goals? How important is walking around naked to you? (No need to answer here if you don't want to, but those would be things to take into account). In any case, definitely move to Burbank with or without roommates. LA commutes are terrible.

I was really dreading a roommate, but it was the only way to meet all of our financial goals. It has been a success!

Hey all -
To answer some questions, I'm debt-free and would like to save for a huge down-payment on a condo. For the last two years, I've barely made any traction in my finances (had to cash-flow A LOT of expenses). I'd like to rev up the financial engine I had when I paid of $100K in SL's in under three years.
I think that having a roommate may be the way to go; I could always move if it doesn't work out.
