This might sound crazy, but one of the best gifts I got as a teen was an empty Tupperware I got as a graduation present. Inside was a note from my Godmother saying that I could pick a homemade treat every month for a year, and she would fill the Tupperware with that thing. (It was a good size, too, maybe a gallon?) It was amazing to have this little reminder that she was thinking of me all throughout the year.

4 teens for $50 is tough. I wonder if you could do something nice together as a gift? I was looking at Groupon recently and in my area they had some terrific deals on activities like trampoline parks, climbing walls, ziplines, etc. Maybe there are similar deals for your area. That way you do something with them that is fun and different and shows you care.

Movie passes?  If they all want to go as a group you could feed them a meal beforehand and transport them back and forth to the movie.

+1 on the climbing walls and jump parks, if you can swing it for $50.

If you are looking for something they can unwrap you might try The Container Store. They have a big assortment of stocking gift type items - some goofy and practical  (and maybe just right for a teenager). Might be worth a look; some are even on sale right now.

Hi, my boyfriend has 3 kids, all boys, ages 17, 15, and 11. I'd like to do something for them for Christmas. There's a 15 year old family friend (girl) as well who I'd like to get something for (her family takes care of her needs but don't do anything special for her).  The trick is that they are about to move to a house nearer my boyfriend's work, so I don't really want to just get them junk to add to the pile of stuff to move. I was thinking of maybe giving them tins of their favorite homemade treats, but that seems to me something more that older people like. Any ideas on other things I could give? Not too expensive because I'm on a tight budget....I was going to try to cover all 4 kids with $50. They have had a mess of drama with their mom, who has pretty much abandoned them, so I want to somehow reinforce that they matter (I know this isn't just through presents). Thank you!

How about a subscription to a sports or car magazine? They get 12 issues to look forward to every month and they can all enjoy it

Take them to a cheap concert or something. They may not care about a $10 junk present but for $50 you should be able to see something cool!

That is so sweet! You have an awesome godmother!

I really did. She passed away last year and I was crying thinking about that story I posted, but it was a good cry. I was lucky to have her for as long as I did.

For a budget of $50 for 4 teens, I think movie tickets are probably the best bet.

I was thinking Starbucks cards, if they can get to one.
I also was thinking - is it possible for teenagers to be happy with a gift? Especially a non-tech, inexpensive one? Bwahahaha ;-). If so, where does one find these teens?

Boys / Teens:
 - leather item, like gloves, wallet or belt.  (TJ MAX is your friend, here)
- Leather or nice cell phone cover for their specific phone
- Earphones/ earbuds
- gift certificate to gaming site such as Steam
- things that help them transition  or get skills to transition (in a few years) to life on their own.  I picked up a cute cast iron pan with brownie mix "present" betty crocker type...  The idea is to learn to make your own single serve brownie in a toaster oven. Like this.. but my version on sale was only $8.00...

My son saw it wanted to buy a couple for friends (age 17).
- cookbook?
- Grooming kit / bag for shaving stuff.
- For the 11 year old.  Lava Lamp.  there are less expensive ones out there.  This qualifies as stuff you need to move, however.
- Book for the book lovers, in the genre that they usually choose.

Socks. For some reason both my teens and now my husband are asking for comfy winter socks... (not the athletic wear kind, but more like a winter boot sock with some colour banding).  This is a know your recipient sort of thing, some teen boys would hate it.

Throw blanket (for the bed) -- my son (17) tosses and turns at night and it is getting colder out, so having a cuddle soft blanket to have while on the computer or watching you tube is something he really likes.  Something that he does not share with his sibling. Again, check the sales and discount stores,  very cuddly things in grey and navy are out there as loss leaders.

Cash.

They can buy whatever they want, and can combine it with other cash they may receive or earn to buy something bigger if wanted.

I like the treat idea. I remember each of the kids in my family getting our own labelled jar of an aunt's amazing raspberry jam. We guarded those jars like they were gold.

My sister is on a budget, and she always gives my kids family-size bags of Cheetos, or giant containers of Nutella, or something along those lines.  She writes their names in marker on the bags, and the card tells them they aren't allowed to share - this is THEIR treat.

The kids always want to open presents from her first, because they know they'll love it.  After the first two years, they started adding food to their Christmas lists to make sure auntie gets exactly the flavor potato chips they most want.

(This is special to them because their mom - me - is a meanie who doesn't buy a lot of junk food.  They usually have to use their allowance, and they are all stingy.)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
