I was SO excited for Sling TV to come out - I heard about it in January and was counting down the days. I got rid of cable years and years ago, and didn't miss it for the longest time, but recently in the last few years, have been missing it. I think part of it is that I do have Netflix, but I hate choices - I get SO overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices. I was excited to be able to turn the tv on and just have a few things from which to choose, and I was really excited at the thought of having HGTV again.
So, I got my one week free trial when it came out. I spent the first couple of days binge watching HGTV. At first, it was fun. I was ecstatic - giddy with joy. By the second day, I was starting to feel annoyed, irritated, cranky. Obviously, from watching too much tv! But also, because the shows I was watching.. the home shows.. everyone wants this and wants that and nothing is good enough and they go over their budget on everything and just all of that... hedonism. It was driving me nuts!
I canceled my subscription so that I wouldn't be billed after the week was up. My daughter was bummed, because she had enjoyed watching HGTV with me here and there when she was home. So I called Sling and asked them to sign me up again (in my mind, it was going to be on a one-month trial basis). They gave me another 2 weeks free, not sure why. I didn't complain or anything. It was own choice to get rid of it. I let my kids know that we had it again, and I spent the next two weeks silently keeping track of their screen use. I kid you not, Sling did not get turned on even ONCE during those 2 weeks. Not ONCE. So obviously, it was not for us.
Oh, also, the quality at times was terrible. We never have issues streaming Netflix on the tv or streaming on the laptops, etc. but Sling on the TV was more often that not blurry and distorted, so it made it kind of frustrating to watch.
Sorry for the long review, just wanted to share my experience! :)
