75,000 HHonors Points -- Where should I redeem them at?
« on: June 19, 2016, 03:30:48 PM »
I have 75,000 HHonors Points and would like to get the biggest bang out of them by staying in the lower end Hilton hotels.  I searched my general area (South Florida) to see how many points a night would cost and was surprised to see they started at 30,000 points!  I've heard about  people getting rooms for 5,000 points!  Where can I go to get that kind of deal?  Dates and destinations are negotiable.

yeah - not a lot of cheap Hiltons in the US. I typically pay 20,000 - 30,000 for a night.

There are lots of 5,000 point Hiltons on the Sinai peninsula!

Our favorite cheap redemption is at the Hampton Inn Centro Historico (Mexico City).  The location is fantastic for the tourist sights.  Free breakfast, and free coffee all day long in the lobby lounge!  It's 10k points per night, so you could stay 5 nights for 40k points (5th night free if you are at least Silver elite which is super easy to get, through a credit card, for example).

OP: Did you acquire these through the Amex HHonors Surpass card?

If so, and you're in a hurry to spend them because they'll expire, you can apply for the Amex HHonors without the annual fee (or product change your current card) and just make a purchase every 6 months or so to keep your points active.

I've got 230K+ HHonors points and will likely spend them overseas where I can get a better bang for my buck, but in the meantime there are no worries about losing my current points.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
