Maximum hours allowed to work?
« on: November 16, 2015, 01:56:15 PM »
If you are a full time salary employee (in Colorado) are there laws regulating daily/weekly/monthly hours you can work?
Are there laws governing how many days off in between X number of hours/days worked?
Is there a difference if you have people reporting to you or not?

Thanks!

I am a full-time salary employee in Colorado and I know of no such restrictions for non-exempt employees, nor do I see anything on the Department of Labor site.

Edited to respond to federal regulations, which apply to all 50 states.  Colorado may have additional regulations.
1) yes.  It depends on your occupation, but generally salaried workers must be payed the equivalent of the federal minimum wage for total hours worked.
2) yes. It depends on your occupation.  For example, bus drivers have lots of restrictions on hours-worked and breaks taken.
3) yes. Owners/partners/self-employed have different standards than low-level employees.

Beyond that, your question is far to vague to get meaningful answers.
Start by  going here: http://www.dol.gov/compliance/guide/minwage.htm#EmplRights

Thank you for the info. I called the dept and learned that for my position there are no maximums.
