Question on performance reviews
« on: July 04, 2020, 10:18:30 AM »
I have been at my current job for three years and am at the point where i am pulling the plug.  I have three annual performance evaluations.  In all three i was rated exceeds expectations and in two of the three i was rated higher by my manager than i rated myself.  Can i use these when interviewing for jobs?  They are on company issued letterhead embedded in our hr system.  If so, how do you go about submitting them?  My thought was once my first interview was set to send them over rather than in the application process.  Is this something that people do?

In case you are wondering why a guy with great ratings from his boss would leave - i hate the work.  I have communicated this for three years as it does not match what we discussed in the interview process.  Despite being rated highly each year, they are not willing to allow me to do something else in the company.  I tried applying for another position last year but did not get it. I am remote and there seems to be a stigma with that.

You can use them for internal interviews.

For external interviews, I wouldn't share the reviews but I would probably mention that I consistently exceeded expectations.

It's worth mentioning that you had stellar reviews, but I wouldn't send the actual reviews themselves over.

I would, however, save them so you can remember the details and reference your achievements in the future. For example, you can say in an interview, "I received an 11/10 review in 2020 because I completed X project, driving a Y% increase in user growth that year."
