Thanks for the link.  Good article of course. 

I looked at the comments and the first few were complimentary.  Then there was the usual stuff about "not everyone can do this" etc.  It is too bad the people just 100% dismiss MMM.  There is a lot that a person can pick and choose from and get to a much better financial place.  Anyway, I am always glad when word gets out.

I noticed that too in the comments. Many of the less-than-positive commenters did not feel they had the whole story or just dismissed the whole concept outright.

:)  Even knowing about MMM before this piece, it was still a nice read.  The encouragement to better yourself and your life was very accessible and useful regardless of your financial goals.  After reading it I'm pondering a leisure-time-outside goal for this year.

As per usual quick comments without even checking out the website. Internet hero's are so quick to comment on news articles and stories without taking the time to read the material to answer the silly question they pose or ridicule otherwise. The other recurring them that comes up is this is something that the fortunate or only elite or fortunate can attain, whereas we know from all the blogs we read , is available to and possible for anybody. You just have to start.

Funny thing in most comments in the news articles I have read recently is how everything in Canada lately boils down to Justin Trudeau and the Liberals now ruining the country...like really come on

This is why I rarely read comment sections... All these trolls try and make everything political or to spew out their conspiracy theories. Try looking at the Calgary Herald or Edmonton Journal these days. Every comment thread becomes Cons bashing Notley and the Dippers and its always the same people.

It's like my dirty secret indulgence to read these comments and then challenge myself to not reply :)
I moved to Vancouver Island 2 years ago and you think the NDP rhetoric in AB is crazy, I dare you to read any news story on BC ferries....wow mind blown. BC Ferries gives a discount to users - worst company in world > BC Ferries cancels a sailing due to horrible storm - worst company in world they suck > BC Ferries cancels a sailing due to a mechanical problem - Provincial govt is corrupt

Be it comments on NDP or BC Ferries or MMM , the people that spew ignorance and hate seem to be a bit of a partial example of our society that feels entitled to everything yet should cost nothing and be handed to them without work. Such a shame.

Thanks for the pointer, DDD & k20. I liked the article -- particularly his lead in with challenging yourself. That's something I need to work on again.

The "spending too much time on the internet" thing also hit a little close to home. Speaking of which: I notice that Pete tends to highlight most of his media presence on his twitter feed, but I guess this one didn't make it.
