I am made redundant and for the first time in my adult life, I won't have private health insurance.  There's an option to extend but I am not sure what's the details and premium yet.

The insurance did help when I had endometriosis and don't need to wait too long for surgery.

I have a lot of questions but not sure where to start,
is the premium like car insurance, where it will go up with your age and your claims history or fixed once you are in?

what things should I consider?
I knew it's quite board but I don't have much knowledge around these things

NHS is that bad that you need additional insurance?
